Bonfire
Mid-February was Carnival week in Panama. There were celebrations all across Panama - raucous parties, parades, trucks shooting water & confetti, music, and lots and lots of drinking. Gamboa had its own, much humbler, Carnival celebration.
It started like this - a big pile of brush and palm fronds in the 183 parking lot.
Just after dusk, the first sticks were lit.
And then this!
Gwendolyn had a great time circling the fire on this tricycle.

And at a smaller, sub-fire there were a lots of happy kids roasting and eating marshmallows.

After an hour or so, Gwendolyn spontaneously took off for home. Reminding us that all good parties must come to an end.

Gwen is sweet, and knows her mind--both about that marshmallow and heading home!
